On January 2, 2019, an Emirati aid ship arrived at the port of Aden, carrying 25 tons of medicines and medical supplies, which aims to revive medical services in the health centers located along the western coastal strip, all the way to Al Hudaydah Governorate.The Foundation invested in the Yemeni human element, as it offered hundreds of university scholarships inside and outside the country, and urged students benefiting from scholarships to strive, persevere and acquire knowledge in order to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people and contribute to finding qualified staff in the specializations of science and engineering.In March 2019, the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works launched a project to build the Zayed Educational Complex in Socotra, which included colleges of higher education, primary, preparatory and secondary schools, a craft lab, scientific laboratories, student housing, another for teachers, meeting rooms and a mosque.The Foundation contracted with 306 teachers to support the educational sector, rehabilitating the governorate’s schools and financially and technically supporting them, maintaining and renovating schools, establishing new classrooms, in addition to establishing a "Ataya Model" school, distributing clothes and stationery for primary and secondary schools, and providing 4 buses to transport students to schools.The Foundation has adopted a project to rehabilitate the Saad bin Muadh school in the Nujehr area in the outskirts of Hadiboh, as part of its package of development projects aimed at modernizing the infrastructure of the educational sector. The project includes rehabilitating the school building and providing it with the necessary equipment and building 4 new classrooms with their facilities. The project also includes fencing and securing the school.In another development area, the Foundation launched the "Breakwater" project in the "Hulaf" area, near the port of Socotra. Al-Kasir project is one of the important development projects that have been implemented in a short and standard time, as the length of Al-Kasir is two kilometers, and the best capabilities and modern equipment have been provided to accomplish this vital project.The port is the main artery through which 90% of Socotra's exports and imports enter, and the establishment of the breakwater enhances the port's services and vitality in receiving a greater number of ships and securing them from the waves.The best of the foundation was not limited to brothers in Yemen, but extended to include Yemeni brothers residing on the land of the state and provided scholarships for children of Socotra families residing in the UAE, and the granting of grants comes within the framework of the efforts provided by the Foundation and its adoption of development projects to revive the education sector. The Foundation signed memoranda of understanding with Ajman University and City University College of Ajman to accept Socotra students.In the last days of 2019, the Foundation continued to touch the needs of those affected and afflicted by accidents and bad weather in the Socotra Archipelago, and the Foundation’s relief teams in the archipelago worked to provide food and shelter assistance to families whose homes were damaged by the effects of the Pavan storm. The aid included the basic needs of consumables, in addition to shelter materials such as mattresses, blankets and clothes for children, men and women, in addition to basic needs that contribute to alleviating the suffering of the people and restore hope for life in security and stability.On the other hand, the engineering teams affiliated with the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation continued to complete the project of connecting electricity service to villages and rural areas adjacent to the city of "Hadiboh", the capital of the archipelago.In the health care file, during the year 2019, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital in the Socotra Archipelago governorate conducted 560 surgeries that included various injuries and various diseases such as bones and tracts, as well as Caesarean sections.
