Faced with this, the Khalifa Foundation took the initiative to be a pioneer in the restoration of the only school for students from the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip in 2009, and since then it has become the name of the Khalifa bin Zayed School, in appreciation and gratitude for the role of the Emirati Foundation.Continuous supportThe support provided by the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Work to the school was not limited to its restoration in 2009, as the Foundation renewed its support in 2012 and 2015, providing it with all the capabilities and requirements of electronic devices and modern printers, according to the Director of the Education Department at the «UNRWA »Farid Abu Azra.The school was previously a disaster, and scenes of bombing and destruction were associated with it, but thanks to the Emirati support, this image was completely removed, and the school became the most advanced in the Gaza Strip. This support contributed to improving the quality of education inside it, through the direct support that students received in terms of uniforms and supplies. And an appropriate learning environment, in addition to harnessing all necessary seats, furniture and service facilities.The great Emirati assistance supported the students' parents, and relieved them of the financial burdens placed on their shoulders, by providing all the supplies their children need.The Director of Education at UNRWA says: “We have become accustomed to the great and unlimited support of the UAE since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The UAE has presented many large development projects that bear its name, including the Emirati neighborhood in the city of Khan. Yunus, in the south of the Gaza Strip, which contains many UNRWA schools that serve refugee students.He adds: We aspire to continue this support to all schools in the Gaza Strip, as the relationship that was built between students and the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation will remain firmly in their minds and will not leave them for life.
