His Excellency Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, the country's ambassador to Beirut, laid the foundation stone for the "Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan" park in Saida, southern Lebanon, which is being funded by the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Work.His Excellency the Ambassador planted the olive tree that forms the cornerstone of the garden and removed the curtain from its memorial plaque, in the presence of the Governor of the South, Mansour Daou, the Mayor of Sidon, Muhammad al-Saudi, and a group of political and social figures.On this occasion, a celebration was held at the Saida municipality under the title "Thank you to the Emirates" attended by former Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and former Lebanese Member of Parliament Bahia Hariri, where a video was shown about the humanitarian role of the UAE in Lebanon in addition to the importance of the park and the amount of Emirati aid provided in Lebanon.Ambassador Al-Shamsi delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the developmental achievements in all fields are the fruit of the leadership's thinking that resulted in placing the UAE in the ranks of developed countries in global competitiveness, pointing out that the value of the gift presented to Lebanon amounts to 16 million dollars distributed among 75 towns from the far north. To the far south, via Mount Lebanon, and include all governorates and districts, provided that each project is announced in a timely manner.Al Shamsi indicated that the goal of these projects is to support the Lebanese people and their institutions, especially to secure basic needs in the social, development, health and humanitarian sectors.The ceremony also included speeches by President Fouad Siniora, Representative Bahiya Al Hariri, and Mayor of Sidon Muhammad Al-Saudi, during which they stressed the humanitarian and development role of the UAE in Lebanon, stressing that the park project is one of the most prominent development projects that Sidon has recently witnessed.In conclusion, the Mayor of Sidon, Muhammad Saudi Arabia, with the participation of Siniora, Hariri and Governor Dhao, presented an honorary shield in the name of the municipality of Sidon to the Ambassador Al Shamsi, in appreciation and thanks from the city and its people to the UAE president, government and people.
