Aid for 32,000 flood-affected families in Malawi
The Khalifa Foundation team distributed urgent food aid to 32,000 affected families on the outskirts of the Malawian capital, Lilongway, as part of the urgent food and medical aid project targeting about 650,000 people affected by the torrents and floods that recently swept Malawi. The aid comes under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, "may God protect him" and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The Foundation coordinates its relief operations and focuses in the first phase on the most affected areas, noting that the Foundation’s team was able to reach the affected areas and distribute aid despite the obstacles represented by the closure of flooded roads.
