Egypt was at the forefront of countries to which the Khalifa Foundation provided various assistance. 100 thousand Egyptian families benefited from this aid, at a cost of 70 million pounds.His Excellency Mohamed Haji El-Khoury, Director General of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Works, affirmed that the Foundation's humanitarian projects and assistance in Egypt were implemented in cooperation with the country's embassy in Cairo and through four phases that included humanitarian services with distinct developmental dimensions that extended an impact on the living conditions of the poorest groups.During the first half of 2014, two phases were implemented, while the other two phases were implemented during the second half of last year. The aid included the provision of charitable services that have an impact on the living conditions of those who are unable to live in the villages and hamlets of 20 Egyptian governorates. The charitable programs that have implemented "small and micro" development projects for families who are unable to help them secure a stable source of income in line with the social environment in which they live include livestock distribution, stalls, and other small development projects in addition to projects to improve the living environment in which the inhabitants of the poorest villages reside in Egypt to guarantee them a decent life through the reconstruction of dozens of dilapidated houses, whether by rebuilding the entire house or its roof, delivering electricity and clean water to it, as well as supporting the needs of the poorest villages in terms of public services as possible.Through these projects, the Khalifa Foundation, in cooperation with the State Embassy in Cairo and the "Orman" Association in Gharbia Governorate, performed 13 heart surgeries for 13 patients from the governorate at the expense of the Khalifa Foundation at a cost of 283 thousand pounds.The Khalifa Foundation sponsored a celebration organized by the Egyptian Orman Association on the occasion of the Orphan Day for the happiness of about 500 thousand orphan children across the Arab Republic of Egypt.The Foundation distributed 1,700,000 breakfast meals in several governorates of Egypt as part of a fasting breakfast project. The Khalifa Foundation also distributed 750 thousand boxes of foodstuffs to 750 thousand Egyptian families and set up 50 thousand Ramadan tents to breakfast thousands of Egyptian families in the villages and hamlets of 20 governorates of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt, in cooperation with civil society institutions.
