In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him", and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.The Khalifa Foundation has launched a project to extract water and build the longest pipeline to transport it to the population in the Hargeisa region in Somalia.An official source at the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works said that the project, which aims to alleviate the suffering of the Somali brothers and improve their humanitarian conditions, begins with digging 13 wells to extract water and building giant tanks to collect and pump it from the Hanbouneh region to the Somali city of Hargeisa.The source stated that the length of the pipeline, which will transport the water extracted from the wells, is 52 kilometers and has a capacity of more than one million gallons per day to serve 250 thousand people in the city of Hargeisa in northern Somalia.He explained that work has already started with digging 13 wells with a depth of 140 meters for each well that serves more than 250 thousand people in the city of Hargeisa, while the implementation of the water connection and the construction of reservoirs takes 16 months and is transported through a network of pipes established according to the best engineering standards in the field of transportation networks.The source pointed out that the project is a continuation of the initiatives of His Highness, the Head of State, "may God protect him" in establishing humanitarian projects in brotherly and friendly countries and helping people in need ... and within the framework of the UAE's permanent keenness to provide various forms of support and assistance to the brothers in Somalia in humanitarian fields, an embodiment of fraternal relations.
