In the first week of last December, Ambassador Abdullah Matar Al Mazrouei, the country's ambassador to the Republic of Yemen, inaugurated the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital, which was implemented by the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Work on the Yemeni island of Socotra.Abdullah Al Mazrouei said that the initial idea of building the hospital began about three years ago, with the establishment of an operating room, and then it developed into building an integrated hospital that includes many advanced medical devices and equipment, indicating that the hospital includes two operating rooms, an intensive care room, and obstetrics, gynecology, pediatric and emergency departments with equipment. And advanced medical equipment, stressing that what has been accomplished now is considered a first stage of the project, the second phase of which will include a building for outpatient clinics and another for hospital management, expressing his hope that this stage will be completed within a year from now.This stage will be completed within a year from now.He pointed out that the UAE, especially the Khalifa Foundation, did not limit its work to this hospital and did not wait until its completion, but supported medical services by providing doctors specializing in orthopedics, anesthesiology and teeth for a long time, in addition to providing four ambulances. With its drivers and hospital cars, the Foundation has also built several water storage projects in separate areas on the island and established an ice factory, in addition to the activities of many Emirati charities.For his part, Governor of Hadhramaut Khalid Al-Dini said that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital remained a dream for the people of Socotra Island, and today it is being realized on the ground as a gigantic achievement that will take the health services on the island to wider heights, and will solve many of the problems and difficulties that their children suffered Who had to take their patients off the island.Dr. Salem Yusr Faraj, Director of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital, said that with the opening of the hospital, modern medicine has entered Socotra, referring to the equipment that the hospital includes, including the latest medical equipment and devices, including a comprehensive blood test device (CBC). In the hospital shortly after its opening, the parents of the newborn decided to name him Khalifa.Salem Ahmad Al-Dahri, the child's father, said, "It is a great thing that his son bears the name of Khalifa, especially on this historic day in the life of the people of Socotra, in which the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital was opened."Salem Yousser Farag, Director of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, indicated that the hospital is built on an area of about 1,470 square meters, and includes rooms for major and minor operations and intensive care, as well as sections for women, childbirth, premature babies and emergencies, and is equipped with the latest modern medical technologies.He mentioned that the hospital project is part of the only medical complex on the island of Socotra, and the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works demolished the old hospital and rebuilt it according to the highest engineering specifications, and the old outpatient building will be rebuilt and built according to the latest standards and to contain larger areas than before. To include outpatient clinics, an administration building and housing for doctors, and the maintenance of the old mosque is being studied there.
