Computer Tomography Scanner (CT)

A CT scanner is a device that uses x-rays to produce digital images of the internal structures of the body for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. It consists of a rotating x-ray tube and a row of detectors that measure the x-ray beams that pass through the body from different angles. A computer then processes the data and reconstructs it into cross-sectional images (slices) of the body. A CT scanner can show detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, organs, and blood vessels.
