The campaign "The Emirati Response to Syrian Refugees in Lebanon - Winter 2016" was concluded, as the campaign came to reinforce the development and humanitarian role of the UAE and its humanitarian organizations to reduce the repercussions of asylum and affirm the state's principled stances towards refugees and its constant endeavor to provide better living conditions for them.His Excellency Mohammed Haji Al Khoury, Director General of the Khalifa Foundation for Humanitarian Works, said that he was committed to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the United Arab Emirates has made great efforts to reduce its great humanitarian repercussions and has taken rapid steps to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people and meet the needs of refugees and displaced persons in Syria and abroad.He explained that the total accumulated Emirati aid since the beginning of the conflict in 2011 is about four billion dirhams ... adding that the Foundation had a strong and effective presence in the Syrian neighboring countries to help refugees in Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon.He indicated that the aid included food, providing shelter and health services, and securing safe drinking water and sanitation .. A budget was also allocated for educating Syrian brothers in some Lebanese schools and universities. Official statistics indicated that more than 55,000 displaced families have benefited from this campaign, equivalent to approximately 280,000 people. It included all the Lebanese regions where the displaced Syrians are residing. The Foundation also took care of treating chronic cases of displaced Syrians in Lebanon.
