Food fortification project in Afghanistan benefits 15 million people
Last September, the Foundation announced the beginning of the implementation of a large humanitarian project in Afghanistan called the "Food Immunization" project, from which about 15 million people, representing about 50 percent of the Afghan people, will benefit. It is the first of its kind in the Middle East based on the idea of "prevention before treatment", meaning treatment. The causes of poverty and disease suffered by about 77 percent of the Afghan people. The Foundation clarified that after careful study of the general nutritional situation in Afghanistan, it was found that two-thirds of children suffer from malnutrition, 30 percent of the country's population does not have access to healthy food, and 77 percent of the population in remote areas suffer from lack of food In addition to the fact that 57 percent of the general population does not have access to clean and healthy drinking water, this has led to Afghanistan becoming third in the world in child mortality rate and second in maternal mortality rate. Therefore, the Foundation decided to enter into a strategic partnership with the Global Jane Foundation in a four-year project. It aims to provide healthy food fortified with essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, salts and iron and covers 15 million people, who are half of the country's population
